Turn it to God
Have you ever tried to comfort someone who was going through an extremely painful time. In your heart you wish you had the magic words to take away the pain. In the original movie, Red Dawn, the young teenage boys find themselves without their parents, in the wilderness with the enemy closing in around them.
Charlie Sheen’s character, Matty, begins to cry and weep. He had every right fall into his brothers arms, weeping. His brother, Jed, played by Patrick Swayze, grabs a hold of him tight and tells him to turn the tears in “to something else.”
For this 80’s action drama about the invasion of the USA, Jed wanted his kid brother to turn that pain he was feeling into a fight for survival. “Turn your tears into bravery!”
Unfortunately, life isn’t as neat as a movie and doesn’t usually resolve in two hours. The pain and suffering we endure can go on and on with no end in sight.
Be encouraged, God has the power to turn your tears into dancing before Him. His Holy Spirit can change the way you feel when you take time to praise Him.
Remind yourself that God is able. Remind yourself that God is wonderful and great. Remind yourself that Jesus loves you and that He wrote a promise for you in His word, “Trouble won’t last always!” 2 Corinthians 4v17-18 NLT
The best way to turn your mourning into dancing is for you to spend time with God, spend time with God’s people and spend time singing songs of praise.
Don’t be silent, even if you don’t have the prize. Tell others about the journey. They will be grateful to hear of your faith journey and you will see your tears of sorrow turn into tears of joy!
