“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”
Galatians 5:25 NLT
There’s a difference between visiting the water and being fully submerged in it.
A lot of us are trying to live right. We’re not ignoring God. We pray, we read, we care. But if we’re honest, there are still parts of life where we quietly think, “This one’s mine.”
Paul is writing to believers like that. Not careless people. Not people running from God. People who are trying—but still holding back certain corners of their lives.
And he says something simple, but it cuts deep: if you’re living by the Spirit, then follow Him in every part.
Not just your Sunday decisions. Not just the big moral moments. Every part.
I’ve had to face this myself. It’s easy to give God the obvious things and keep the subtle ones—attitudes, reactions, private thoughts—just slightly outside His reach. Like letting Him into the living room but closing the door to everything else.
But the Spirit doesn’t lead halfway.
God didn’t step into your life just to improve a few habits. He stepped in to reshape the whole thing. Not to take your joy, but to teach you a better one. A life that He actually delights in.
That’s what Jesus made possible. He didn’t just forgive you—He gave you His Spirit so you wouldn’t have to live divided anymore.
So instead of asking, “How much do I have to give God?” try asking, “What would it look like to let Him lead this too?”
Not perfectly. Just honestly.
And step by step, you’ll find that the more you let Him lead, the more your life starts to breathe again.
Pray This
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me Your Spirit. Help me stop holding parts of my life back and learn to follow You in everything. Amen.
