“Jesus told her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.’”
John 11:25–26 NLT

Have you ever stopped and really thought about what happens when we die?

A lot of people have. Some imagine darkness. Others picture something vague and distant. Movies don’t help much either—they usually make it feel confusing or even a little scary.

But the Bible doesn’t leave us guessing.

Jesus speaks about it plainly. He says He is the resurrection and the life. That means death isn’t the end of the story. Not even close.

The Bible teaches that when our bodies stop working, something deeper continues—our soul. The part of you that thinks, feels, knows, and responds to God doesn’t shut off. It goes on. That’s because God made us for more than just this life.

You weren’t designed to fade out. You were created with eternity in view.

From the very beginning, God gave humanity the breath of life (Genesis 2:7). Life didn’t exist somewhere before that, floating around. It began with God’s intentional creation. And from that moment on, every person carries something that doesn’t simply disappear.

That’s why Jesus came.

He didn’t just talk about eternal life—He stepped into death and came out the other side. His resurrection is not just a miracle to admire. It’s proof. Proof that life continues, and that He has authority over it.

Some people think we just cease to exist. But Jesus says something very different. He makes it clear that those who believe in Him will live—even after dying.

That changes how we see everything.

It means this life matters, not because it’s all there is, but because it leads somewhere. It means your story doesn’t end at the grave. And it means God’s plan for you stretches far beyond what you can see right now.

Eternity isn’t meant to scare you. It’s meant to wake you up to what really matters.

And at the center of it all is Jesus—the One who holds life, now and forever.

Pray This

Lord Jesus, help me understand what You say about life after death. Give me faith to trust You, not fear what I don’t understand. Thank You for offering eternal life. Amen.
