“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 NASB1995

There’s a kind of confidence people carry when they’ve heard something enough times. Like assuming the “best” candy is the one with the loudest commercials. It feels settled… until someone questions it.

That’s where things get uncomfortable.

When it comes to the afterlife, many voices compete for attention. Some sound convincing. Others sound intellectual. And if you’re not careful, you can start wondering if what you’ve believed all along can really hold up.

Paul cuts through that tension with a simple but weighty truth: we walk by faith, not by sight.

That’s not a call to blind belief. It’s a call to trust what God has revealed over what we can currently verify. Especially when it comes to eternity.

The afterlife isn’t something we can test, measure, or observe firsthand. Left to ourselves, we’d be guessing. But God hasn’t left us there. He has spoken. And in Christ, He has shown us what lies beyond this life.

Jesus didn’t just talk about eternal life—He secured it. Through His death and resurrection, He made a way for us to be with Him. So when we think about what comes after death, we’re not leaning on speculation. We’re trusting a Person.

That changes everything.

Faith isn’t about winning arguments or outthinking objections. It’s about knowing who you trust. You can have all the facts lined up and still miss God entirely. But when your confidence rests in Christ, even the unknown starts to feel steady.

There will always be voices that challenge what you believe. Some will sound sharp. Some will sound persuasive. But faith doesn’t rise and fall on how convincing others are. It rests on the unchanging Word of God.

And His Word doesn’t shift.

So when your thoughts drift toward eternity—when questions come, or doubts try to creep in—come back to this: you are not walking into the unknown alone. You are walking with the One who has already been there.

Keep walking. Even when you can’t see it yet.

Pray This

Lord Jesus, help me trust what You have said, even when I cannot see it clearly. Anchor my heart in Your truth and remind me that my future is secure in You. Amen.
