“But for us, There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live.”
1 Corinthians 8:6 NLT

There are seasons in life when everything feels divided.

Your attention is split. Your energy is split. Even your heart can feel split. One child needs help, another needs patience, the kitchen needs attention, the bills need paying, and somewhere in the middle of all that, you are trying to remember what it feels like to breathe without rushing.

As a family grows, the idea of being “one” can start to feel harder, not easier. Everyone is moving in different directions, needing different things, talking over each other, dropping socks in mysterious places like it is a spiritual gift. Real life has a way of turning unity into a daily battle.

But Paul brings us back to something solid: “For us, there is one God.” That is not just a theological statement for scholars and seminary classrooms. It is daily encouragement for tired believers in ordinary homes.

God is one. His purpose is not fractured. His rule is not shaky. His love is not divided. And when life feels scattered, He is still gathering His people to Himself.

This verse also says we live for the Father and through the Lord Jesus Christ. That means your life is not random, and it is not merely about surviving the next load of laundry or making it to bedtime without collapsing into a pile of dish towels. Your life has a center. Your home has a center. Your family does too. That center is not your perfection. It is not your schedule. It is not your ability to keep everyone happy.

It is Christ.

Jesus is not only the Lord of the big spiritual moments. He is Lord in the car line, in the messy living room, in the tired prayer whispered at the sink, and in the tears you hide because you do not want anyone to see how overwhelmed you feel. Through Him, you live. Not just someday. Right now.

And that changes the way you carry everyday life.

Being “one” does not mean your family is always calm, coordinated, and smiling like a framed photo that took seventeen tries. It means there is a deeper unity forming beneath the noise. As God draws you closer to Himself through Christ, He also teaches you how to love, serve, forgive, and keep showing up with grace.

The oneness God is making in your life begins first with Him. He anchors your heart so that you are not living pulled apart by every demand. In Christ, the scattered pieces start finding their place again.

So when today feels noisy and thin and a little too heavy, remember this: you are living for the Father, and you are living through the Son. Your life is held by the One who made all things. He has not lost the thread of your story, even if your house keys have vanished again.

Stay near to Jesus. He is able to bring holy steadiness into very ordinary chaos.

Pray This

Father, thank You that You are not divided, confused, or distant from my daily life. When my heart feels stretched thin, draw me back to Yourself. Help me remember that I live for You and through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Bring peace where there is tension, steadiness where there is weariness, and unity where life feels scattered. Teach me to trust You in the ordinary moments of this day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
