“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27 NLT

The opening chapter of the Bible answers one of life’s biggest questions: Who are we?

We are not accidents. We are not cosmic coincidences. We are not self-made creations. We are people intentionally created by God in His image.

Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created humanity in His image and that He created us male and female. Before governments, cultures, social movements, or personal opinions existed, God had already spoken. His design was not an afterthought. It was part of His good creation.

Today, many people wrestle with questions of identity. Our culture often encourages us to define ourselves according to our feelings, preferences, or personal perceptions. Some even reject the distinctions God established between male and female. Yet the Bible invites us to see identity differently. Instead of creating ourselves, we discover who we are by looking to our Creator.

This truth is not meant to diminish anyone. Quite the opposite. Being created in God’s image gives every human being incredible worth and dignity. Every person you meet carries value because they bear the fingerprints of their Maker.

The differences between male and female are not mistakes to be erased. They are gifts woven into creation itself. Human life depends on them. God’s design is purposeful, wise, and good, even when our culture questions it.

The good news is that our deepest identity is found not merely in our biology but ultimately in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Sin has distorted many things in this world, including how we see ourselves. But Jesus came to restore what has been broken. As we follow Him, we learn to receive God’s design with humility, gratitude, and trust.

You do not need to invent your identity. You have been lovingly created by God and invited into a relationship with Him through Christ. The One who made you knows you completely and loves you perfectly.

Father, thank You for creating me with purpose and intention. Help me to trust Your wisdom above the voices of the world. Teach me to find my identity in Jesus Christ and to honor the design You have given. Give me grace to walk in truth and love toward others while remaining faithful to Your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
