Unanswered Prayer

Nothing stings more than unanswered prayer. Have you ever felt like God was putting you “on-hold”? Have you ever called a company and reached an automated answering service. “You are caller 16,” the automated voice says. You grumble under your breath and wait…20 minutes or longer! For as long as it takes, you stay “on-hold.”

Luke 1 tells us about a priest named Zechariah. Zechariah has been “on-hold” with God for over 20 years. He and his wife had one prayer, “God, give us a child.” Months became years, years became decades. No answer. Now, in their old age, they grew used to being “on-hold.”

Then an angel visited him and said, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard.” Not only did God hear his prayer, He answered it with a yes! God heard Zechariah’s prayer, but put him “on-hold” for over twenty years, until it was the right time.

Do you ever feel like you are “on-hold” with God, because He hasn’t answered your prayer? Don’t lose hope; God hears your prayers and He will answer them at the right time. Zechariah and his wife were reminded of this whenever their newborn baby was in their arms.
