“[Jehoiada] was buried among the kings in the City of David, because he had done so much good in Israel for God and his Temple.”

Jehoiada was not a king.

He never sat on the throne. He never wore a crown. Yet when he died at the remarkable age of 130, he was buried among the kings of Judah.

That detail might seem small at first glance, but it speaks volumes. The people recognized that this priest had done more than simply hold a religious office. He had faithfully served God, protected the nation, preserved the Davidic line, and helped restore proper worship in the Temple. His life left a mark.

Most of us will never have statues built in our honor. Our names may never appear in history books. We may spend our days doing ordinary things that seem unnoticed—praying for family members, serving in church, encouraging a friend, teaching children, caring for a spouse, showing up day after day in quiet faithfulness.

Yet Scripture reminds us that God notices.

The world tends to celebrate fame, influence, and visible success. God often celebrates something different. He honors faithfulness.

Jehoiada’s burial among the kings was a public acknowledgment of a life well lived. It was as if God was reminding future generations that true greatness is not measured by position but by devotion.

One day, every believer will stand before Christ. On that day, the applause of people will matter very little. What will matter is hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Jesus Himself walked this path. He came not as an earthly king wrapped in luxury but as a servant. Many rejected Him, mocked Him, and crucified Him. Yet the Father honored Him, raising Him from the dead and exalting Him above every name.

If you feel unnoticed today, keep serving. If your acts of obedience seem small, keep going. If your faithfulness feels hidden, remember that God sees every prayer, every sacrifice, every act of love done in His name.

The world may forget the faithful.

God never does.

Pray This

Father, thank You that You see every act of faithfulness, even when no one else notices. Help me serve You with a sincere heart and not for the approval of people. Teach me to live for Your “well done” rather than human applause. Make my life a testimony to Your grace and help me leave a legacy that points others to Jesus. Amen.
