“through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles in behalf of His name,”
Romans 1:5 NASB
Grace does not sit quietly in the corner like a guest waiting to be noticed. When Jesus saves a person, He does not only forgive them. He sends them.
Paul says, “we have received grace and apostleship” for a purpose. Not so believers can admire the gospel like a framed picture on the wall, but so the obedience of faith would spread among the nations. In this case, Paul is speaking about the Gentiles. That mattered deeply. Jesus was not only for the Jew. He came as Savior and Lord for people from every background, every nation, every kind of mess.
That still matters now.
Most of us heard about Jesus because somebody said something. Somebody invited us. Somebody prayed for us. Somebody opened a Bible, shared a testimony, brought us to church, or simply refused to act like the gospel was private property. The Lord used people to bring us near. That alone should shake a little of the dust off our silence.
Evangelism is not about becoming strange, pushy, or sounding like you swallowed a megaphone. It is about knowing Christ is too good and too necessary to keep to yourself. Faith in Jesus brings forgiveness, but it also brings obedience. It turns hearts toward Him. That is what Paul means by “the obedience of faith.” Real faith bows to Christ. It trusts Him, follows Him, and confesses His name.
So remember this: grace came to you, but it was never meant to end with you.
Jesus is still calling people. He is still drawing sinners. He is still saving Jews and Gentiles, religious people and irreligious people, the cleaned-up and the clearly falling apart. And He often does that work through ordinary believers who are willing to open their mouths and love people enough to point them to Christ.
You do not need a stage. You do not need perfect words. You just need to remember the name you bear and the grace you received.
Speak of Jesus. Pray for someone. Invite someone. Trust that the same Lord who sent the gospel to you is able to send it through you too.
Pray This
Lord Jesus, thank You for the grace that brought me near. Help me not keep Your gospel to myself. Give me love for people, courage to speak, and a heart that remembers Your name is worthy to be known among all nations. Amen.
