Some things you ask about… and some things you already know.

We can spend a lot of time praying about decisions, and that’s good. But sometimes, if we’re honest, prayer becomes a delay button. Not because we want God’s will—we already know it—but because we’re not sure we want to do it.

Jesus didn’t leave much room for interpretation here. He said, “Give to everyone who asks of you.” Not just the ones who seem responsible. Not just the ones who might pay you back. Everyone.

That’s where it gets uncomfortable.

I’ve had those moments—someone asks, and my first instinct is to explain why I can’t help. “I don’t have cash.” It sounds reasonable. But over time, I realized the issue wasn’t availability. It was readiness.

So I started doing something simple. I keep a couple of one-dollar bills set aside. Nothing dramatic. Just enough to remove the excuse when the moment comes.

Because this isn’t really about money. It’s about obedience.

Jesus didn’t just tell us to give—He gave Himself. Freely. Fully. To people who couldn’t repay Him. That’s the pattern. And when His life is shaping ours, obedience starts to look less like pressure and more like participation in what He’s already doing.

You don’t need to pray about whether to love your neighbor. You don’t need to fast about whether to be generous.

You already know.

The question is—will you be ready when the opportunity comes?

Lord Jesus, You have been so generous to me. Help me stop delaying what You’ve already made clear. Give me a willing heart and ready hands to obey, even in the small moments. Amen.
