Forget Me Not
The conversation between mother and child usually goes like this:
“Did you remember to clean your room when you got home?” the mother asks.
The little girl avoids looking into his mother’s piercing eyes and says with a quivering voice, “Uh, um…I forgot.” Mother has heard this answer before.
Tired and exasperated she says, “If it was important to you, you would have remembered.”
It’s true, those things that we value, we tend to remember. This idea is something that one of the criminals crucified alongside Jesus understood in Luke 23:42.
He said these words to Jesus, “Remember me when you come into your kingdom!” In his heart, the criminal knew that Jesus was an extraordinary person and placed faith in Jesus’ divine kingship to save him.
That criminal thought, if Jesus would remember me and this moment (the criminal’s admission of guilt and repentance), then Jesus’ remembrance would be of value.
Do you want Jesus to remember you?
Don’t worry; He hasn’t forgotten about you. In fact, He thinks about you continually. Continue to put your trust in Jesus and He’ll supply all your needs according to His riches and glory. You can always count on Christ!
The criminal on the cross knew Jesus wouldn’t forget him when Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.” Today is the day of salvation!
