Construction Sight

Construction Sight

Ephesians 2:19-22

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

You can’t go for a 10 minute drive in Florida without seeing a new home or business being built. If you pass by the construction site over the course of time, you can see the process unfold.

Within weeks, a plot of dirt is transformed into a stable and attractive structure. Little by little, grey stone or wooden planks take shape forming into something familiar and valuable.

Ephesians 2:19-22 uses the imagery of a construction site to give us, “construction-sight.” Construction-Sight is the spiritual vision that sees God as the builder of a divine, God-inhabited life. The building that God is building isn’t a monument, or a home for us to live in—God’s is building a place for Him to live in. God is not satisfied with saving us, answering our prayers, and giving us a good physical life. He wants to live with us and inside of us. Who is like the Lord?

What kind of God wants to do this? A loving and committed God!

When we go to church, remember to use your construction-sight when you look at one another, knowing that God is building for Himself lives that He will inhabit.
