Talk About Jesus
When God has delivered you from some tough times, you can’t help but tell others. The song writer in Psalm 71 felt that way about all that God had done for him.
And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long,
for they have been put to shame and disappointed
who sought to do me hurt. Psalm 71v24 ESV
It is a terrible feeling to have someone actively looking to hurt you. The hardest question to answer is Why? Why does this person want to do me harm? Why is God allowing this person to try to hurt me?
It is hard to understand why someone would want to hurt someone else. None of us would imagine that we would be in that place as the aggressor, but if we are not careful, we can become that.
God’s promise in this verse is that those people who are trying to hurt you or have hurt you would be put to shame and disappointment.
They may be trying or succeeded in hurting you but they will not escape God’s judgment.
You see, those words, Shame and Disappointment, are not referring to how people will see them. It is referring to how they will feel when they stand before God in judgment.
Our job as God’s children is to not let them hurt us if we can. To find the HELP we need to escape harm and danger and trust in God for His final judgment.
Then, we need to tell others! Tell others of the pain we endured and how God has changed our thinking and feelings toward His help.
Be encouraged, that person or people who tried to hurt you (or succeeded) will not get away with it forever.
God has promised that He will require from everyone an explanation for why they acted the way they did and these people will be ashamed and disappointed to know that their eternal future is going to be far from God.
