A Spirit of Power

A Spirit of Power

God HAS given you a spirit! He has promised to those who believe in His Son Jesus, to give them the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 1v7 reminds us that only One Spirit can live inside you. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” NJKV

God has given us a Spirit of power and love and sound mind. Your physical body is filled with the power of God. You have His love and His mental strength.

Too often we rely on our own spirit. How we feel, how we love and how we think. But God wants to remind you that His Spirit lives inside you, so you have all that you need to live a life that is pleasing to God.

What about that spirit of fear? Fear, timidity, cowardice—whatever you are feeling inside, if it isn’t from God, then God did not give it to you.

Paul’s Holy Spirit inspired words weren’t there to motivate Timothy into being the best person he could be. Spirit didn’t mean Thinking, alone. Spirit was a person who inhabited Timothy’s (and our) mortal bodies.

The Holy Spirit was real and part of both worlds—flesh and spirit. God’s reality isn’t just for the future, but for your present.

Whenever I feel afraid, I repeat this verse. Whenever I feel like the world is against me, I repeat this verse.

I say it over and over again, not because I am afraid, but because I need to be reminded that God’s Spirit lives inside of me. With Him, I have the power to overcome. I have love to give that comes from a deeper, more intimate source and I have the power to keep my sanity!

And you do too!

Believe in the Jesus of the Bible, read His words, talk with Him and ask Him to come into your life and transform you. He promises that God is a Good Father and He will give to you His Holy Spirit if you ask Him.
