The Beaten Path

The Beaten Path

It is a sad reality to see so many believers in a state of disarray. They’re sad, overwhelmed, or maybe just discouraged. They fall into the trap set by the enemy. So you can understand this better, I will provide an analogy. Let us say that you are walking on the narrow path. You have a skip in your step and a song in your heart.

Then you see something on the side of the road. You don’t know what it is, but it has definetely caught your attention. You process a thought (it only takes a second) and then you make a decision. Though it is not on the road, it merely is just a little ways away. So without a second chance to rethink, you go to see what it is. And from one moment to the next you find yourself entranced with this thing on the side of the road.

Now, here’s my question; what is keeping you off the beaten path? Is it something important? Whatever it could be, the reason it got you off track is because it had to be something you deeply cared about. Beloved, the enemy is well aware of the list of things that can preoccupy you. In order for the list to loose its power, you must surrender these things to God and shift your priorities.

Brothers and sisters, get back on the narrow road and stop wandering in the wilderness. Meditate on His word, talk to Him constantly, and find an accountability partner. Follow the path of the Holy Spirit and leave the distractions to God. After all, He gave you that map; so, go and grow.
