God Wants it First

God Wants it First

God wants the first of everything you got. Sounds a little different from what you normally hear. Much of Christianity is about what you can get from God, but the God of the Bible also asks for things.

Imagine the scene. Moses is high up on a mountain. The million+ people are down below and there is rumbling and thunderous sounds.

God is speaking to Moses and He is doing it through an Angel. The Angel of the Lord is God’s direct mouthpiece and is considered God’s representative. God speaks through the Angel to Moses and Moses speaks to the people.

God’s Word in Exodus 13v2 are, “Dedicate to me every firstborn among the Israelites. The first offspring to be born, of both humans and animals, belongs to me.” (NLT)

God wants every FIRST to be set apart to for Him. Other translations use, separate, consecrate or sanctify. They all communicate the same idea, what ever is given to God belongs to Him, exclusively.

Why should we give God the FIRSTs?

The Father gave His One and Only Son, His first (and only) Son so that we can have eternal life with Him.

Jesus, the First, was given for us.

God used the Law of the Firstborn to show us how much He values Jesus. In return for Jesus high value, we get to participate in His wonderful, eternal life.

What FIRSTs is God asking from you?

First, that you believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. Believe that the Word of God tells us all we need to know about Jesus and that His life, death and resurrection were real.

Because He lived, we will also live!
Because He gave of His life, He will also give us life!
Because He defeated death, we will also defeat death!1 Corinthians 15
