Return to God or Get What You Deserve!

Return to God or Get What You Deserve!

How bad do you have to be for God to say, “I’m outta here!” Hosea was a prophet that had to deliver that kind of news to the nation of Israel.

They were doing things that God could not tolerate and He was shutting the door on their prayer requests, how the earth would behave toward them and how their neighboring nations would behave toward them.

Worse, God was promising that He would do things that would make them miserable as a nation and a people.

Hosea presents a tough picture of God. If we only read this chapter of the Bible, we might begin to think that God is always upset and always severely beating up those He claims to love.

Yet, the people were only receiving justice for their behaviors. They were unloving, they were greedy, they ignored the poor and acted wickedly against themselves, their neighbors and their God.

God had provided them lots of room to make changes and return to Him, but they refused.

Hosea’s words about the future of the nation are intense. They serve as a reminder that God is actively judging this world and the nations of people within it.

Jesus sits as King, Priest and Judge, over this world and He is actively seeking Justice for those who follow Him and those who suffer from injustice.

God is not slow as some people think He is. His patience with those He loves should not be viewed as license to those who do wickedness. 2 Peter 3:9

Hosea’s message: Return to God or get what you deserve!

My message: Turn to Jesus and get what you don’t deserve, eternal life!
